About Me
Nicolas Ruston was born in Epping, England in 1975. He began painting professionally in 1987 aged 12 and graduated from De Montfort University after a three year apprenticeship under sculptor John Warren.
His large scale paintings often represent found objects and iconic images. He uses distinctive materials such as MDF, silicone and supermarket shelves and many paintings are scratched into splattered paint with blades, scalpels and other surgical instruments. Drawing from inspiration such as popular culture, the media and commercial products, his art is in private and corporate collections around the world.
